Association of Cuban Residents in Toronto Sends 10th Container of Medical Supplies to Cuba

Earlier this month the Association of Cuban Residents in Toronto Juan Gualberto Gómez (Association JGG) filled and sealed the 10th container the organization has sent to Cuba so far.

This one in particular is going directly to Bayamo in the province of Granma with specialized aid for a school for children with different mental and physical disabilities and for the Association for the Blind in the same city. This was the result of our campaign Jardín de Luz (Garden of Light) which collected funds and donations for this purpose.

The Association JGG took upon itself to help Cuba after the pandemic and the worsening of the inhuman blockade imposed unilaterally by the United States against the Cuban families in an attempt to punish them for their struggle for self-determination and to create discontent and hardships in their daily lives. This blockade, plus all the other punitive measures have dramatically affected the quality of life of the most vulnerable sectors of Cuban society.

The association has also sent shipments to the provinces of Matanzas, Holguín, Pinar del Río, and Havana to help during situations of crisis.

This group of Cuban residents in Toronto debunks the myth that Cubans who live abroad are against the government or the socioeconomic system of development of the Caribbean rebel island. The overwhelming majority of Cubans abroad advocate for peace and prosperity for their first homeland.

The Association JGG has pledged to continue its labor of love and solidarity for as long as it takes. It understands that Cuba needs friends and help to face the difficulties created by US sanctions which prevents Cubans from enjoying a dignified life.

Cuba itself is a paradigm of generosity and solidarity extending its friendly hand to other countries in need sharing whatever it has and should be afforded the same in return.

The Association JGG appreciates the help it has received from solidarity organizations and friends of Cuba in Toronto and beyond, (including the Canadian Network on Cuba and the CCFA Toronto), without which it would not have been able to carry out its projects.

The Association takes the occasion to demand the immediate end of all the sanctions that compose the economic, financial and commercial 60-year-old US blockade which aims to asphyxiate the Cuban population
