  • This will be the 26th version of the International Havana Ballet Festival 2018, Alicia Alonso will take place this year from October 26 to November 2, 2018.

    The International Havana Ballet Festival will feature 20+ performances and several world premieres at the Great Theatre of Havana, The Karl Marx Theatre and the Mella Theatre. Organized by the Cuba’s National Ballet every two years, the event draws ballet dancers, choreographers and companies from all over the globe that turn Havana into the mecca of classical dancing for a few days.

    Held every two years, the international Havana Ballet Festival 2016 was founded in March of 1960. This year’s International Ballet Festival of Havana Alicia Alonso will take place from October 28 to November 6. This will be the 25th edition of the Havana Ballet Festival.

    The grand ballerina Alicia Alonso works with Cuban cultural institutions to create this international event which features Cuba’s National Ballet company, classical dancers, choreographers and dance companies from around the world.

    Performances can be viewed at the Grand Theater of Havana “Alicia Alonso,” (Gran Teatro de La Habana), the National Theatre, the Karl Marx Theatre and the Mella Theatres.

    The ballet dancers of Cuba’s National Ballet are products of the Fernando Alonso National School of Ballet.

    Attending this year’s Havana Ballet Festival will be the Scala de Milan, Ballet del Teatro Colón, London Royal Ballet, the English National Ballet, the New York City Ballet and American Ballet Theatre.

    Featured ballet dancers include José M. Carreño, Joaquin De Luz, Carlos Acosta, Sadaise Arencibia, Elier Bourzac, Ernesto Alvarez, Javier Torres José Lozada, Jared Angle, Yumiko Takeshima, Erina Takahashi, Alejandro Virelles, Yanela Piñera, Anette Delgado, and Viengsay Valdés.

    Cuba’s National Ballet will perform and join in performances with foreign ballet companies and perform pas de deux with dancers from abroad.

    The International Ballet Festival of Havana Alicia Alonso is one of the most prestigious cultural and dance events both in Cuba and the international world of dance.
